Ironic isn't it. They come into our area marketing their consultancy services and cherry picking the best clients and claiming to be the best in the land and yet dont check their own premises comply with the Law.

Another case of Do as I Say Not as I Do.  Good to see that they are also unique in offering great advice on risks to business continuity.

Why am I not surprised?

No doubt the college also holds great sway in influencing Sir Ken and  HM Govt on the need to regulate  the  fire risk assessors  trading in in the private sector.

If the fire service can’t get it right and the local authorities can’t either; why is it they only seem to make examples of the private sector when they don’t get it right?

It should be the other way around, but then who would pick up the bill for fines?

Ahhh yes the tax payer, so forget that, just keep hammering the private RPs and allow the public ones to get away with it.

I say don’t fine them but sack those responsible in public sector cases!
Someone is paid a hell of a lot more then I am to ensure fire safety at Morton and the same in Southwark, they have woefully not done their jobs. I am not saying that a fire risk assessment would have prevented both fires but the law says you need one and  in cases where private RPs don’t have one I think there is an automatic prosecution/fine or there seems to be.

I think I told you this first.  Don't you just love the FOI. Kurnal, did you not hear Sir K say on radio 4 how awful it was that the College had no  current FRA?  I am assuming that he did say that, given the need for transparency, openess and fairness in the Civil Service.  Anyway, have to toddle off as Joanna Lumley is calling me, or is that just another dream.

What about poor Harriet Harman?  ;)

Enforcing authority for the Fire Service College is?

Why was the lack of a FRA not picked up during regular or routie inspections?

I believe (dont quote me on this) that the College is still classed as crown property therefore it would be the Crown Premises Inspection Group one would assume.

Piglet, how did you manage to get the word poor in a sentence regarding an MP?

Haha i would like to say its because im a billionaire but thats not quite true, yet. So its just my knack with words, mind you it seems every MP has awful haircuts so i would use the word again if i were describing their haircuts and how sorry i feel for them and the small dog positioned on their head.

This from the college website.
Strange it's still on it but then you have to consider who it is would determine if their assessments were suitable and sufficient?

The Fire Risk Assessment package we offer is unique in that it predicts the progress of a design fire in your premises and balances its effects against existing fire defences. Our comprehensive but concise report covers risks from Fire to Life, Property, Mission Continuity, Environmental Impact, Heritage, and Local Amenity.

In addition to the report, our assessment team, present their findings to you and provide ongoing technical support.  The report clearly indicates the degree of importance to be assigned to each recommendation, taking account of the use of the building and the people who occupy it.

If you would like to know more about how our Risk Assessment service, please visit our risk assessment website http://www.thefiresafetyconsultancy.co.uk/ or contact us.

I wonder if their risk assessment of the old accommodation/prison blocks has highlighted the need for the installation of AFD!!
