Hi all. Can anyone recommend a company that can do a survey of existing fire doors, provide a report etc, quote and carry out the work? This is required in the London area.
Thanks

Try the BWF at http://www.bwf.org.uk they have a list of member contractors / trades people searchable by postcode etc

Why don’t you send a message to Auntie LIn who is an expert on fire doors I am sure she could help, unfortunately she only makes occasional visits to the forum. You will find her on the member list page 13.

We often carry out fire door surveys but dont on principle quote for or carry out the remedial works.
I am happy to offer advice if you pm me and can give the name of another company who may be able to help. Wont mention them here cos they are in all other respects a fairly hostile competitor.

Are there special considerations such as business continuity, single MoE, major risks etc?
If not, agree with Midland Fire
They should provide a full report to BS8214 latest edition 2008

Thanks for yr replys. We have been asked by a customer to survey a building and quote for existing (supposedly) fire doors with a previso to fit smoke / int seals or recommend changing to certificated fire doors etc etc.
So thanks for yr replys.
Have a good weekend all.

These guys can, I think, put together a spec' that could be followed by a competent joinery contractor to do the actual works. I think you'll struggle to find someone to do both the survey and the works themselves.

Sorry if I've missed the boat Martin, but if you want any more help, let me know - this is the sort of thing I get involved with on a regular basis.

Thanks guys and Lin. Not heard from the customer regarding it anymore?? I will certainly keep you in mind Auntie Lin. Thanks :)
