The FIA’s Fire Risk Assessment Council is launching a series of CPD days to help fire risk assessors update and improve their knowledge. The first of these quarterly training days is taking place on 5th July at the FIA’s offices in Hampton and will focus on ;-
‘Everything you need to know about Passive Fire Protection’.
The website goes on to state that "this full day seminar will provide all you need to know about what to look for when conducting fire risk assessments with regards to passive fire protection including structural fire protection, compartmentation issues, fire doors, ironmongery, smoke and fire dampers and fire ducting. Speakers include representatives from the Association of Specialist Fire Protection, British Woodworking Federation, Guild of Architectural Ironmongers, Heating, Ventilating & Air Conditioning Manufacturers Association and Fire Protection Ltd."
This full day’s training accounts for 7.5 CPD hours; every attendee will receive a certificate of attendance after the event.
The cost* for this initial CPD day is:
Members
1 delegate £50
2 delegates £90 (£45 each)
3 delegates £120 (£40 each)
4 delegates £140 (£35 each)
5 delegates £150 (£30 each)
Non Members £150 per delegate
* All prices excluding VAT

WOW- All that in one day!!!!!
Pity I have wasted 23 years of learning, when I could have done it all in one day. :o

Hi Prof
Sounds interesting, right up my street, however we can't afford the train fare or the entry fee due to the £18 million we have to save this year.
davo :'(

It does sound interesting Kurnal but 5 July is not a good day for me. Do you know the dates for any of the other planned CPD days so I could get them in the diary early?
-
Sorry Meerkat theres no further details available yet.
The one on 5 July is a pilot- hopefully the first of many. As the IFE recommend a minimum of 30 hrs CPD per year for fire risk assessors, this is what we are hoping to offer. If there is sufficient demand then they could be repeated in other venues across the UK.

Yesterdays CPD session was well attended - 50 delegates - and a very worthwhile event. Would there be any interest if this was repeated in the North or Midlands?
Has any one suggestions for a suitable venue we could use? Fire or Police HQs?

If people require some CPD and are ‘up int North’ there is a FRACS technical day in Warrington; October time £50.
I believe it will count as 4 Hours CPD. Topics and speakers look good, covering several different topics. Passive, Active, Disabled, DSEAR, Human Behaviour, etc

Kurnal,
may be able to assist with a venue if you want to bring the deal to London.

Thanks Jokar butthe event of 5 July was in London so we could do with putting something on up North. (like Watford) ;)
