Myself and some colleagues are looking at undertaking some formal RYA powerboat courses and qualifications, initially for general recreational use, but also for possible future operational purposes too.
Im told there are some brigade instructors out there who are able to give RYA accredited courses, as well as non brigade instructors.
Anybody know of, or put me in touch with anyone who can provide such courses, especially those whom may give favourable rates to brigade personnel (cheeky I know)
Must be RYA approved / accredited courses however.

MR. I take it you have looked at the RYA website and followed the link to Courses and Training and searched for the training and course you want and the nearest training provider to you?

We have indeed NT, Im aware however there are few retired fire officers out there doing power boat / rescue boat training etc, so trying to get a decent course, at favourable rates!

Admit it. You just want to learn to water ski so you can swan by on a mono showing off to the sun kissed semi clad beach blondes hoping you'll meet them in the beach bar later and be subjected to all manner of offers for all manner of services.
Can you include me in your course when you source one please?
-
You bet NT ;D ;) ::)

the sun kissed semi clad beach blondes
What about sun kissed semi clad beach brunettes NT???? Has someone not had their equality and diversity refresher course? Right when can I book you in for one then? ;D
Back to the original question, a company called Ocean Quest (who I did all my scuba diving training with) do power boat courses. Two down sides however are I'm not sure if they are RYA approved or not and they are based around Porthcawl, Cardiff so not exactly around the corner from West Mids. Pretty sure they would give you a decent rate though and the instructors are very good.

the sun kissed semi clad beach blondes
No Cat. Gentlemen prefer blondes.

Thanks for that Cat - I'll give them a ring and dont you take any notice of that Nearlythere. Not all gentlemen prefer blondes.

Sneaky MR, sneaky, you get qualified by the RYA to drive powerboats in this wee corner, and get apponted Admiral of the Inland Seas, Rivers, Waterways, Canals and Boating Ponds in another more salubrious venue. Then commandeer the matron's bath tub or is that commodore the matron's bath tub?
Such sneakiness qualifies you for promotion to Lord High Admiral of Everything that Floats

The crews from Nottinghamshire's Specialist Rescue Team do their powerboat courses in Wales, I think it's actually done at Anglesey and they do training all the way around the island. Send me a pm if you want me to get more details for you.
