Title: Grade 2 listed purpose built 3 storey flats
Post by: njec on August 12, 2010, 07:22:01 PM
Hi Recently came across a grade 2 listed purpose built 3 storey block of flats (1920's) My interest is in the original doors to the flats. Although they look substantial they all have leaded glass near the top of the door and also there is another section of leaded glass at the top of the door frame. This glazing is definately not 30 min resisting. There is a grade A alarm system in place which also continues into each flat, would this compensate for the glazing.
Thanks

The simple answer is a big 'no'. You need fire resistance AND a good alarm system.

I agree with Civvy and a sympathetic door upgrade or replacement will be the minimum requirement irrespective of any other issues.

If English Heritage will allow it of course.
