I have had a request from a health client who wants to paint over a red wall mounted sounder to make it same colour as wall due to some improvements being carried out. Does anyone know if guidance states a specific colour(i.e Red) or is it acceptable to change colour( as long as no interference with noise levels).

Nothing in BS sounders about colour preference.
-
As Nearlythere states there isn't anything stating that you cant change the colour.
Just make sure that whoever paints them doesn't damage the sounders by getting paint in all the inner workings.
-
Just make sure it isn't a combined sounder and beacon!

I believe visual alarms should be red or white.
-
As long the lense is red no problemo

As long the lense is red no problemo
Which curiously is the daftest colour to have it as it radiates less light than clear.
-
I think they should all be tartan and that the attention drawing signal of a voice alarm system should be Flower of Scotland.

You tak the high MoE and I'll tak the low

Tartan beer at Murryfield?

CT,
Thats a great idea, it should make everyone leave straight away.

Leave straight away? They'd all start running to get away from the noise. And it's very dangerous to run with fingers in ears!

Don't forget that the 2.5 minutes evacuation time you all use to calculate exit widths came from a fire In Edinburgh when they played God save the King. I am surprised it even took 2.5 minutes to clear the place.
We gave the world malt whisky, haggis, tablet, the telephone, television, penicillin, tarmac , deep fried mars bars and copper wire......and exit widths. How cool is that?
Oh AND the Proclaimers.
-
and now you have the Commonwealth Games in 2014 to add to that long list of success. Oh and rangers are doing ok in the Champions League and are in front in the 2 horse race of the SPL.

...and you can trust Determinations of Scottish Government, as they are an entirely honest lot.
I think it unwise to trust those in England personally.
-
Midgets, Andy Stewart, The White Heather Club, 80/- beer, Glen whiskeys, Spey Casting, etc
-
Colin,
I agree the scottish determination was very good as for the 2 english ones, well !!!!!
-
Actually, I think that the two English determinations reached the correct conclusion. But then the shock revelations of Demontim unnerved me, along with word on the streets about private revelations in a conference session from which the public were excluded.......

Do you not think that the omission of speaking to English Heritage in the first one was a mistake? or is it that the RP did not make a sufficient case in the submission. As regards the second, I know and understand the arguments but the relevant person bit in the FSO has made a change and I think it should have an impact whether that was it does not matter or we will look at that as far as the legislation concerned. I think it leaves unanswered questions.

English Heritage were involved.
