Title: vision panel in double fire doors
Post by: lingmoor on June 21, 2011, 12:48:06 PM
is there any requirement to have vision panels in double swing double fire doors?

I can understand the safety aspects... ie so you dont take out people when you're going through!

cheers

Hi lingmoor

There is the H & S angle as you say, also the DDA angle so wheelchair users can see whats at the other side.
In regards to fire, technically no, but if these are corridor doors I would put some in so people can see if the route is safe or not should a fire occur

ps not too keen on double swing if they are critical :-\

Part K & Part M of the Building regs. The ADs have the necessary guidance even if the regs dont directly apply.
