Title: Bolier location

A small, single-storey public house has a large well-ventilated roof space which has been floored with wooden planking and is used only for storage. The oil-fire boiler has, for some unknown reason, been positioned in this space. It is fitted with an oil shut off valve. Even though there is a drip tray, there is obvious oil leakage, probably over a number of years, evident in the flooring immediately around the boiler. The boiler sits directly on the wooden floor immediately above an area occupied by the public. A section through the floor would be wood flooring over 50x200 joists with 12mm platerboard ceiling. As part of the application for entertainment licence I have to deem the heating system safe and operational, which it is apart from this concern. A fire risk assessment was carried out but the situation was not even mentioned. Am I seeing a problem that a professional in fire risk assessment would not?

Is it a thermal or fusible link shut off valve?
Domestic size boiler?

Being in the roof space is there a smaller reservoir oil tank gravity feeding the burner?

the oil supply tank is located elsewhere and uses the tiger-loop to draw oil from a lower position, so there is no supplementary reservoir. I have uncovered some pertinent information in BS 5410-1997 (COP for oil-firing boilers up to 45Kw) which is quite explicit in terms of fire safety features.
