Do DDA lifts need a secondary power supply, I understand that they can be mechanically released however have had conflicting advice and would appreciate the relevant guidance help

DDA?

Equalities act?

I do not think that lifts are mentioned in the DDA or the Equalities Act.

Ok, I will take my pedantic head off.......

No. To be used as an evacuation lift, they would need a secondary supply though. Approved Document M has info on the requirement for such lifts, and it also points towards BS8300, which then also points towards BS EN 81.

But you might not always need an evacuation lift and if you do you can do a sort of upgrade of a standard lift but it is expensive.
