Contributors will describe the extensive research carried out in connection with Rosepark; its methodology and process, its findings, and how these findings might be used to assist managing fire safety in these types of premises in the future.
This should be interesting and one of the speakers is our very own Colin Todd.
(Any chance of a discount for the plug CT? ;))

And very enlightening it was. Explanation of how it can so easily go pear shaped. Useful lessons learnt.

Agreed Davyfire the Rosepark session was very interesting and there is a lot to learn from this tragic fire. I believe the potential for another fire like this is still very real and therefore I would recommend people either read the sheriffs determinations at least or try to attend a seminar that covers this fire.

I am looking forward to the BRE presentation on Rosepark this coming Tuesday.
Hope to be able to get some accurate plans of the building, any on know if they are availbe yet? got some from Strathclyde but they are not very clear and do not show any fire safety provisons.
-
I thought this was really interesting. Well done to all agencies involved. It was a shame it over-ran so time for questions was minimal.
It was interesting about how they were unable to actually replicate how the fire started but due to process of elimination found the cause.
-
Piggie, I didnt see you there, though I looked for you. I was going to introduce to one of your satisfied customers. (you need to cultivate those that exist!!)
-
Thats a shame Colin, I was going to say hello but your council was in high demand.
Its always good to meet a happy customer.
Well done for all of your work in respect of Rosepark.
-
Cheers, Thomas, it was an honour to assist the good people of Scotland.

Following on to the excellent presentations at BRE last week it has been reported that the LOOPHOLE in the law that allowed the failure of attempted prosecutions over the Rosepark care home tragedy is expected to be plugged see link to full article.

anyone know it this loophole exists on English law

No JJ no problem in E&W, where a partnership and the partners have the same identity in law. In Scotland, the partners and the partnership are separate entities.
-
The commission is now recommending it "should remain competent to prosecute a partnership during a period of five years following its dissolution".
Why only 5 years? People are dead forever
-
I wont be dead forever. I will come back as a spirit and sing loudly near Dorgards, causing the doors to shut of their own accord.
-
Now Colin if you came back as a ghost Im sure you would prefer to visit Harriet Harman and sing sweetly at her.
