I have recently visited a Bar/Restaurant with fairly comprehensive fire alarm with AFD. However, bar was built some time ago and there are MCP's at bar/restaurant exits. MCP's behind bar presumably to discourage malicious activation in the past. As long as procedures are clear to staff is this acceptable?
I would appreciate opinions on acceptability or otherwise.

Do you mean there are no MCPs at exits?
If so, that's ok.

Well spotted, how a missed word can make such a difference. There are no MCP's at exits within bar/restaurant area.

Not only is this ok, it is recommended (provided all procedures and training are ok, as you say).

Its fine and a recognized case for a variation under BS 5839-1.
