Following the facscinating exchange of views on Part Time working I took a look at BS 5266 Part 8 (checking firenet is great CPD isn't it).
Its a funny Standard that doesnt really tell you much. does anybody have any background to what its trying to do?

Ask Colin as he was part of the writing team and I am sure that he will be pleased to give us a full run down. CPD for all, what a great idea.....COLIN IT IS NOW YOUR MOVE.

Aye Bonnie Lad, nae problem, as we say in the north east. Anyhow, I am always pleased to help wee b. Its funny, Bri, because its European, same as eating snails is funny. It is dual numbered and is an EN, published as the EN and as Part 8. You will notice that it is a standard and not a CoP, which is quite interesting. It generally overlaps with Part 1, but has no conflicts as such other than in respect of maintenance of course. Meantime, work has already begun to amend Part 1 to take out the bits that overlap, so that the two dovetail rather than overlap. The new Part 1 is already a DPC--note that Firey old chap and tell the lads to get a copy and read it and be ahead for a change.
