Title: hole in fire resisting partition

aye up all

If you find a hole in a 30 minute fire resisting plasterboard partition...how would you recommend it is sealed/repaired

What size of hole?

about the size of a fist...obviously you could infil with plasterboard and skim, however intumescent filler has been banded about by the quick fixers

I would think the intumescent filler may not get proper support as it is quite a large area to fill.
Maybe correct way would be to cut back to the studs and noggins, or fix in new noggins, making a square cutout. Screw battons to the studs and noggins so that a new section of pasterboard can be neatly fix in and then bond and skim.

correct - to do it properly the opening should be trimmed with studs then boarded over.
