Its a bit of a random list. I think a few people may have had a PR firm voting for them. (i'm not inlcuding Colin of course). The people in the top 10 are all big noises in manufacturing - ie not particulalry influential on what happens or what we use - just who makes it.

Only 24th?
Considering his input on standards, guidance etc I think a higher placing is more appropriate!
One wonders if most of the top were manufacturers they were graded on how much kit they have flogged!

Well he maybe 24th on that list but he is numero uno on mine...(List of greatest Talisker consumers 2012)
Well done Uncle Col
Inicdentally I came in as the 26,309,000th most influential

Many thanks to you all for your kind comments.
Piggers: it was nice of you to start the thread.
Tony: I really am genuinely touched by your sentiments, and , if it is any consolation, 20 of the 23 above me were, as I recall, all security wallahs, so I guess that would have made me number 4 in the fire people. One of those above me is a good chum, who I did not grudge the place to, one is a chap I know slightly, and always seems a good sort of chap, and the third I would not know if he walked down Farnham High Street and spat on the pavement, other than by name.
Retters: I will be in Birmingham tomorrow, so please ensure that my photo and the number 24 flies above WMFRS HQ. Also arrange for the CFO to have a bottle of Talisker in his top drawer.
I have to also thank Kelasll for my position in the list. He saw my pic on the candidates list on the net one night and started ranting and raving and poking me in the eye with his finger. Unfortunately it was a touch screen computer and each poke in the eye counted as another vote.
