Title: * RECALL* Firechief XTR FXW9 9lt Water Fire Extinguishers
Post by: AnthonyB on April 29, 2013, 12:13:13 PM
Following sporadic reports of an extinguisher head cap fault, Homesaver has today issued a partial product recall notice. Only specific batches of Firechief XTR FXW9 9lt Water Fire Extinguishers sold during periods 1st March 2011–31st May 2011 and 17th February 2012–31st October 2012 are affected.

Serial numbers:
2011 01 supplied between 01/03/11 and 31/05/2011
2012 02 001 supplied between 18/03/12 and 31/10/2012
2012 02 002 supplied between 18/03/12 and 31/10/2012
2012 03 005 supplied between 18/03/12 and 31/10/2012
2012 03 006 supplied between 18/03/12 and 31/10/2012
2012 04 002 supplied between 18/03/12 and 31/10/2012
2012 04 006 supplied between 18/03/12 and 31/10/2012

The head cap can detach from the extinguisher body under pressure.

For a while they used TG Firepower as their premium range, these might be these or the new stuff they are using which looks like it's re-branded Commander Edge.

There are two pdf links at the bottom of the text in this page. http://www.homesavergroup.co.uk/FXW9recall/
The first is the company statement; the second has details of what is affected and what procedures to follow.

They should be congratulated for going public & recalling stuff - others haven't openly admitted their past issues.

Looks like it's the models that look similar to Commander Edge ones that are involved.

Quality stuff then.  Not much brass in those valves!

.....but they haven't contacted their customers to advise them of the recall. Once again, second hand knowledge.

And now their site is down.

Homesavers site is up & the warning was spread through trade associations, not using them myself I don't know what they have said to account holders.

They've put more info out than some have!
