Oh how very sad.  I liked old Frank the Fire, as we students on the first MSc course used to call him. I was hoping to see him at the anniversary bash.   I loved the obituary, which he certainly deserved, but especially the bit about turning down the Chief Officer's job in London to go back to Edinburgh, though one has to say who wouldn't.

If it wasnt for Frank's effort in setting up a degree course in fire safety engineering, I would probably have pursued a career in medical physics, and I would not be here today to wind up Big Al.  What a funny thought.
