Title: Fire Safety Legislation - Sovereign Base Areas in Cyprus

The UK occupy around 100 square miles of Cyprus independently from the republic in order to maintain a strategic military presence adjacent to the middle east. The two areas are known as Sovereign Base Areas (SBAs) and consist of a range of military buildings, an airport, housing and significant rural fire risks. Fire cover is provided, and fire safety is enforced by the Defence Fire Risk Management Organisation (DFRMO)

Wikipedia suggest that the laws covering the SBAs are 'aligned' with Cypriot law, but does anyone know what fire safety legislation is applied across those bases?

Is it the FSO, or Scottish or NI regs - or perhaps Cypriot fire safety legislation???

SBA's as with in UK visiting forces - The occupier nation will 'do it' to their own rules and, will look at the host nation rules. Where there is conflict of regulation, the most stringent 'will' apply.
