Title: BA procedures for top of stairs with no wall to search off
Post by: Woodlawn on December 02, 2014, 09:50:37 PM
Hi All,

I need your advice, opinion and/or any reference you can offer for a project I need to complete. The title is "A review of BA procedures for multi room premises with a stairway discharging in the middle of the floor, ie no wall to work off. I would be very grateful for any input. Many thanks.

Even if the stairs discharge into the middle of the room there will still be a banister rail or safety barrier to follow back to a wall. If that is missing follow the floor edge back to a wall. If it is a complete island entry into the centre of a compartment then there is nothing for it but to strike out blind and use a guideline to maintain egress. Need a lot of crews. And a DRA that says its worth it.
