Hallo,
sorry for my bad English. I come from Germany, I'am 23 years old and I'm a member of a voluntary fire brigade. In vocational school I have to write an "article" about the differences between the fire brigades in GB and Germany. Where can I get some good informations about fire brigades in GB. It would be very nice, if you could answer in German. You also can answer in English, I think I will understand it.
Specialy I need informations about how your "rescue-system" is built up. Are there voluntary fire brigades in GB, too. Or do you have only firefighters who gets money for doing this "job" (sorry, I don't know how to explain it)?
Thanks for helping me... ;-)

Isn't there anybody who can help me??? :-(

As far as I know there are no Voluntary fire brigades in the Uk only Wholetime and Retained.
You will be able to learn alot about the UK fire brigades by reading through this site

there used to be a volunteer fire brigade in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. I am not sure whether they are still operating.
Sorry I can't help anymore
-
I think the volunteer units operated by some of the Scottish Local Authority Brigades are the only examples of volunteers in GB.
ICH meinen die melden Verbände betriebenen beim welche des Schottisch Einheimische Autorität Brigaden bist die nur bloss erst Beispiele über Freiwilligen in GB.
N.B Internet auto translation, no pretence at knowledge of German

Thank you for your answers!
Does anybody knows, where I can get some basic informations about the "firefighting-system" in the UK. How is it built up. Who is responsible to finance the fire brigades and so on. Is there an internet adress where I can get those informations?
I just know that in the UK are no voluntary fire brigades and that the most (or nearly all) are "Wholetime" and "Retained". What does "Retained" mean? I think that this "retained" firefighters have to do this "job"! Do they get money for doing this job?
I hope you understand what I mean and I hope that my English is not so bad!!!
Thank you!

Oily
I have removed your links from the above posts due to a complaint.
Each complaint is looked at individually. I have looked at the details of the complaint and have decided to uphold the complaint for the following reason.
The post did not answer in a constructive way the original question as regards to "Voluntary Brigades" and after looking at the links in more detail it was advertising a web ring that in my opinion had no relationship to this thread.
Advertising of any description is forbidden on the FireNet BBS
This desicion is final

Hallo Dave, hallo collin,
I'am very happy that you can understand a little bit German :-) , so I can write in German if there's a word that I can't explain in English. In the next time I will need some more information (and some "deeper") information like the firefighters in the UK get their training. In Germany we have so called "Landesfeuerschulen", this are schools, where the firefighters get their training. Each federal state (Bundesland) like Saxony, Bavaria and so on has such a school. There are trainings "within" the administrative districts, too.
I will begin to write the article in about 2 weeks! In February 2006 I have to finish it/them! So in the next time I need your help much more!!! There will be many special (technical) words I don't know and I hope you will help me to translate them!
So thank you all very much for helping me!!!
If anybody want to get some information about fire brigades in Germany, I will answer your questions as good as I can!
Many Greets from the east of Germany - Saxony!
edit:
Wee brian do you speak German, too! That's wonderfull!!!
