Guys, slowly ploughing my way through the revised standard. Just a quickie ... table 19 fire service vehicular access doesn't contain guidance on high reach appliances? Is this an omission or am I missing something??

As I have retired I have not bought a copy to check but I would suggest if it isn't there it's a serious omission in error. Fact is though pumping appliances are bigger and heavier nowadays but high rise are still bigger and more difficult to manoeuvre.

Would you need a high reach appliance on building lower than 11m, (table 19) check out table 20?

Yes, you would require high reach access to a storage building as the height is measured to mean roof height.
Table 20 covers the road widths etc. Same as table 20 in ADB.

Thanks my mistake. Time to pack this game in I think as I can't keep up to date any longer.

Lower than 11m is a four storey building why would you need a high reach appliance? Access is all about percentage of the building you can get to and the width of road, turning circles and such.

The rule is for large storage buildings Tom where for some reason there is seen to be some need to spray water onto roof sheeting the benefit of which has always defeated me!

Not sure why mean roof height is a particular issue for large storage buildings? In any case, Table 19 looks like a simplified version of Table 21 in the 2008 version, which didn't recommend high-reach access for buildings <11 m high either.

Fishy, table 21 in the 2008 doc does provide guidance on the percentage of perimeter access to be provided by a high reach appliance to buildings over 11m. The new table has had the column describing the type of appliance omitted ...
