Title: Fire Alarm System Cables
Post by: Chris Houston on January 09, 2004, 07:33:00 PM
Happy New Year to all.

I am aware of the new requirements of BS 5839-1:2002 para 26.2 (d), the bit that relates to the standard fire resisting cables, but can someone tell me which of the commonly used cables meet this requirement?

Commonly used ones I am thinking of are Radox FR, FP200, Firetuff etc etc.

Most, or all, of the existing FR cables should provide standard FR (eg FP 200 and Firetuf do). For enhanced FR there is a new generation of soft skinned cables as well as MI of course. Examples are FP Plus and Firetuf Plus. BSI are doing a half day seminar to explain all this--see my earlier posting on this BB.
