Title: Emergency Lighting Levels
Post by: Simon Morriss on October 21, 2005, 02:18:21 PM
Can any one give me the recommended lux levels for emergency lighting.  I thought it had increased to 2 but I am still finding many references to 0.2

Recommeded lighting levels are:

1 lux for escape routes (you can use 0.2 lux, however this is only for permantly unobstructed escape routes, so in general terms, 1 lux is common lux level chosen)

0.5 lux for open areas (this is areas > 60m2)

and 15 lux or 10% of the existing lighting levels for high risk task areas, these are areas where rotating machinery may be present, may include lift motor rooms, plant rooms, electrical switchgear rooms and hazardous environments.
