Title: Flat entrance doors - Test Requirement for both integrity and insulation
Post by: Suttonfire on October 16, 2019, 06:13:54 PM
Can anyone confirm whether a flat entrance door (say FD30s) is required to achieve a minimum standard for both integrity and insulation?

From my memory of the Barbara Lane presentation at the Grenfell enquiry I believed this to be the case. However, I have been advised by a fire door manufacturer that the requirement relates to integrity only. Is there a minimum insulation standard? Does it relate to glazed elements only?

I can only see references to integrity in ADB. Thanks

As I see it ADB Appendix C13 refers you to Table B5 which states the insulation required for glazing.

For a non-glazed flat entrance door, it's integrity only ('E' rated under BS EN 13501-2).  There are only a very few situations in which doors/shutters would require insulation (EI rating).

Integrity only unless you are building to some international codes.
