Hello to all friends, colleagues and like minded Fire Safety people!
I have announced my long awaited retirement from Brighton and Hove City Council and, as has often been the case in my long career, I have been asked to find my own replacement!!
Please have a look at the job below and share with anyone who may be interested (and suitable of course).
Happy to discuss with any interested job seekers!!

Good luck in your retirement Morph
I did the same and swapped my clipboard for a pipe and slippers last September.
My former employer have yet to advertise for the role yet. I can only assume I am irreplaceable - or my old managers are useless (sadly I know while option I have my money on)
All the very best to you

Thank you Messy, All the best to you too.

Davie, Have you really packed it all in.
1. if so, why?

I have indeed Colin. I couldn't wait forever for your call. ;)
I did have a look around and applied for two jobs where there was no residential FS work involved. I was offered interviews for both but they wouldn't give me a salary range and other information that I needed before dragging goodness knows where for a wasted interview. So frankly I was interviewing them and THEY failed!
So after 45 years in the fire game - the last 25 of them in fire safety roles - I am taking a break. To be completely honest, like many, covid made me think about my work/life balance and whether I wanted to keep working at the frantic pace I was into an early grave. I decided I would take some time for me and hopefully travel a little when or if the global situation allows.
I have already started my new pace of life with a rather wet and bleeding freezing walking holiday on the west coast of Scotland. Wet Wester Ross v The nasty Northern Line??? No contest
I am now helping a friend a couple of days a month set up his non-fire safety related business and generally enjoying a lay in until 7am .
But I will be popping into Firex and if I see you lurking, I will buy you a coffee ::)

So just to clarify, you would like to work for me on a three day week is what you are really saying. Please apply davey.

You are very kind, but I am enjoying my new pace of life thank you.
I will still buy you that coffee at Firex though....... if they are not too expensive ::)
