Hello,
Can any one advise one fire safety on boats. In particular I am interested in ( non sleeping) small vessels no larger than a barge (not littoral or ocean going - river only). I have received enquires about use of a boat for parties and another one for training events aimed at children. I have come across a publication called 'Fire Safety on Boats' (by the Boast Safety Scheme) but wonder what other guidance is out there.

The Boat Safety Scheme publication is, I think, the most up-to-date. It may be worth checking with www.canalrivertrust.org.uk (http://www.canalrivertrust.org.uk) who cover most canals and waterways, and www.environment-agency.gov.uk (http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk) who cover the non-tidal Thames and some other river navigations. Depending on the location of these activities, there may be other navigation authorities involved.

There are also prescriptive scales for fire and emergency equipment on board that are detailed in the scheme as part of annual fitness certification, so it's worth checking the links out.
