Title: Sanitary incinerators in blocks of flats

Came across a Sanitary incinerator in a block of flats today in a communal area. Fascinating. This one was electric but I have seen gas fired ones before. Anyone aware of risks? I can imagine many such devises have been installed an forgotten about and have fallen off the radar for cyclical servicing.

Chimpy, they used to be not uncommon and were normally described as Bunny Burners after the name of the leading manufacturer. They did indeed give problems, though mostly production of quite a lot of smoke (because as they were installed on a non combustible wall with no other combustibles in close proximity there was not normally any fire spread as such. Even so, because of these devices,  it was not uncommon for the door to female toilets (e.g. off a protected stairway) to be FR, while the door to the gents was non FR. Hope these thoughts help.
