Title: Passive protection of external escape routes.
Post by: mtatte on October 01, 2020, 01:16:10 PM
Where external escape routes lie alongside buildings, they must of course be passively protected as a general principle.  However, is there a minimum width of such an outdoor pathway/staircase/balcony etc. above which the need for fire resistant glazing etc. is not required?  I've been unable to find any definitive guidance on this.

Thanks in advance for your help!

The 2006 version of AD B had a separate clause covering this. Now you will find it in the section covering external stairs. 3.32c = 1800mm unless an alternative route is available.
