Information on current fire engines can be found in several ways:
'The Fire Brigade Handbook' - 5th ed - published by British Bus Publishing in 2004 - updated at irregular intervals.
Join 'The Fire Brigade Society' - see
www.thefirebrigadesociety.co.uk.
For preserved appliances again the Fire Brigade Society or the Fire Service Peservation Group. (
www.firespg.freeserve.co.uk)
Both of these are national bodies. The FBS has a good quarterly publication 'Fire Cover', the FSPG a simpler monthly newsletter. Both have local groups round the country. The FBS organise visits to local authority and industrial brigades, the FSPG is often involved in rallies for preserved appliances.
