Gent Vigilon alarm system and the verify function

Please can anybody point me to a document that sets out how the verify function on a vigilon system is intended to operate? I have the panel installation and user manuals but there is just a two line overview and I could do with more info.

Hi Kurnal,

The verfiy function on the vigilon will only work if there are delays set up. It's very similar to the delayed day mode on a Morley system if you are more familiar with this. Basically should an activation occur this would start the delay. You set a verify time up and pressing verfy will extend the delay by that time. It's a little hard to explain in words. Hope this helps but if you need any more info let me know.

Maybe an example could help explain it; a customer runs a multistory carpark with 20 levels with the fire panel being in the control room on the ground floor.   A detector goes off on the 19th floor in a plant room which is locked and out the way. The panel is programmed NOT to sound any audible output until 1 minute has passed.. The security staff are on their way to the area thats in alarm, but 45 seconds has already passed and they are only on the 15th floor.. The operator in the control room after getting an update from the guard, then presses the VERIFY button which gives the guards another 60seconds to find the device in alarm. (ie. the alarms wont sound before that extra minute has passed)
If they get there and find there is no fire, pressing the silence button will cancel the time delay and silence the system (ie. the alarms wont sound however much time passes).... If there is a fire, they could either let the panel sound itself by letting the delay time-out  or if they have only just pressed the verify button again, pressing evacuate would sound the alarms.

To take it a stage further, if having pressed the verify button another detector or a break glass operates
a/ on the same loop
b/on another loop

will the system start a seperate 1 minute delay? or will it go into evacuate immediately? or will it go into evacuate once the remaining time has elapsed on the frst minute?

Sorry to complicate things but I need to get my head round this especially as one client wants to set up a six minute delay. I have managed to put him off so far but pressure is building!

Hi Kurnal,

As far as I'm aware the verify function will only work ONCE.

Depending on the programming you have in the panel will depend whether a 2nd fire on that loop or another loop evacuates any part of the building.

I would strongly advise your client about his delay time as when you are watching it tick two minutes is an awful long time let alone 6!

Thanks A A that puts my mind at rest to some extent.
On the one hand the building is very, very  large and in most parts should be tenable for at least 13 minutes
On the other hand the security team aint all that switched on and I had fears of them keeping hitting the verify button whilst a fire developed. Or worse still hitting the silence button I suppose.

Real life example of how switched on they are. I saw this happen. Car screeches up to gatehouse. Driver frantic- please let me in those guys chasing me want to kill me.  Barrier lifts up and lets him in, closes behind him. Car chasing screeches to a halt. Driver says "we are with him". OK says security and lets them in. Then goes back to his texting.  Sometimes training just isnt enough.
