I always enjoy your contributions, Phil - and usually agree with you. In this case, we're not arguing for an enclosure but dealing with a situation where there is one (next to the exit) and we all know what gets stored in cupboards from our inspections of electrical intake cupboards and the like.

Not questioning you're reasoning here Colonel....but your post raised a good point for discussion, which after all this forum is all about.

Fair point Ken but I don't personally believe that the fact that it is next to the exit is particularly relevant......if it was a paraffin heater I'd be worried but not in this case....even with stuff stored in the cupboard I don't think the means of escape for the occupant of the room would be compromised but as I said before..a good discussion point.

P.S. that blokey on the Bill looks nothing like me!

Phill, I fully agree with you about this forum being the place for discussion and views, the experiance on here is far and wide and I miss bouncing ideas and views around an office and reaping the benifit of experiance. Personally I think the enclosure may affect the means of escape and will explain my reasons to the client, along with my reasons for increasing the protection to the means of escape from the cafe (fire door).

I have to be happy in my own mind that what I recommend to the cleint is the best and lowest risk possible, I like to sleep at night.
