Cheers for that AllyMacG
I'm not sure if I am the best person to ask re pqa's, but I'll do my best to enlighten you on what I did etc.
Basically, they are looking for evidence about YOU, under the six main pqa's (equality and diversity, Working with people of different ages backgrounds or gender etc etc) and they are looking for examples of what YOU did, why YOU did it, and what happended as a result etc. Now, remember to base each question on examples within the last three years, try and mix up your answers with examples from current/previous employment and your life outside of work (eg can you relate any of the pqa's to something you have done whilst waiting for a bus, being a member of a football/basketball/rugby team - basically anything you can provide a good example from). Also, most frs applications have a 150 word limit, so do a count up at the end, and trim if necessary. You must get your spelling right, and they will be looking for decent grammar too. I dont really know what else to say, but I am sure others will offer good advice.
Shortly before the closing date for Herts I got a call from thier HR asking me if I was going to submit my application as they were having issues with the online applications. She e-mailed me an application and told me that they'd extend the closing date due to these issues. I asked her if it was worth my while applying as I am from Essex and their current campaign had a preference from those with Hertfordshire postcodes only. She advised me that it was worth my while. The rest is history, I completed the e-mailed application and e-mailed it back to her AND sent the original in the post. I know they got it as I called them a few days later, and she confirmed it was there. She also told me that the writtens would commence 10th March.....tomorrow.
This is even more important to me as I was meant to take my written test for BAA at Pease Pottage recently, but ended up not going as I could not find the paper part of my driving licence. I contacted BAA HR and almost pleaded with them to allow me to attend, but they would not have it. I was very optimistic about BAA too, despite the written test being tough. In addition, I also didn't make the sift from the recent Essex FRS campaign......despite already being RDS in Essex???
So, I have my eye on LFB too, and will not stop until someone takes me on. I will be 39 years old in 19 days, so time is not really on my side anymore. I haven't quite given up hope on Herts, but I am being realistic about it, we'll see.
Good luck to all.
