I believe the only part of Klaxon that meets BS 5839 is the call paoint at its base.  Therefore it is sold as complying with the BS which is true but perhaps only in part.

Another point to note is that without these "self contained" alarms in temporary site cabins, we are back to the days of the good old rotary hand bell. All well and good until you discovered that your client has fitted most of them upside down.

Were the rotary alarms better than these for temporary use ??

Round here, the FRS are telling people to remove rotary hand bells and triangles and replace with battery op call points as these can be left to sound whilst the occupants evacuate i.e. the occupants do not have to stand in the fire rotating the bell!
