Two apllications at once?
« on: June 13, 2008, 10:11:38 PM »
I have recently applied to Royal Berkshire fire and rescue service I completed the national firefighter selection process and was successful but failed to get accepted, due to ther only being 6 vacancies. I scored high enough to pass the interview but obviously not as high as the six people who got accepted! My application is being kept on file and Berkshire are going to get in contact with me as soon as they are recruiting.I am keen to apply for another wholetime post within another brigade but understand that the current national firefighter selection process only allows you to apply for one brigade at any one time? Is this true? Does this mean if i apply somewhere else the berkshire application will be void?

Does anyone work within Gloucester Fire and Rescue Service? As I would like to know whether or not they would accept all previously passed national firefighter selection process stages?

Any more help/information would be appreciated

Many Thanks

At the moment as far as im aware, the current process doesnt have any monitoring in place. If a brigade wanted to find out if you have applied elsewhere they would need to directly contact all of the brigades in the UK.

Obviously if they did find out they wouldnt be happy as you have signed a declaration to say that all of the information on your application is true.

In your situation you could play dumb with you being on a waiting list but like I say the chances of a brigade knowing are very slim.

Although there is nothing official in place FRS do talk to each other, especially the ones that run regional campaigns.

Some FRS make it explicitly clear that you are only to have one application in at a time.

Be careful, you would not want to ruin your chances with both!!
Any views I express are my own and not my employers. Still confused!

Berks are part of a reigonal campaign, so well worth exploring that route fella.

If an applicant is unsuccessful in our region, they are often contacted by other brigades within the region if they recruit before ours do, I would ask Royal Berkshire if this is the same there.
