To comply with the Fire Safety Order (FSO), the Responsible Person (RP) has a duty to take 'general fire precautions' (article

. Those general fire precautions include:

(f) measures in relation to the arrangements for action to be taken in the event of fire on the premises, including-
(ii) measures to mitigate the effects of fire.

Does anyone have any idea how far that duty extends? Is it merely to prevent the fire spreading or causing excessive damage, or is it much further reaching, i.e. does it go off into the requirements of 'business continuity'?

read all of art 8 - then look at the definition of safety.

The theory is, if you do what is necessary in Article 4 (1)a, then you may not have to do anything else.

Agreed. They could of just used Articles 8 and 4, issued guidance and that would probably have done it.
