Advice Please
« on: July 29, 2008, 08:07:37 PM »
Hi all,  I have passed most of the selection process and now have my medical in 8 days, which I am not taking lightly and have trained my *ollocks off. I have a copy of The Chester at home and have also done it at my local station, I do not want to sound too confident but I have passed the '42' score every time and at the moment I usually get a 55/62ish score.

Now the advice please I was training yesterday and dropped a weight on the top of my foot and it was that bad I have been to hospital for an x-ray, luckily it is not broken but it looks like it will take at least a week to 10 days to be on the way to mending (soft tissue/ligament damage) and then obviously I'll have lost some fitness. Should I ring Headquarters and tell them what has happened, or should I bite the bullet and leave it until the medical on the off chance I will be able to make it through. I would hate to make that call just to be told that I only have that chance or none or would it be worth asking the service if I could do the rest of the medical and go back at a later date to do the step test. The course doesn't start until the autumn.

I'm hoping there is someone out there with the relevant seniority or experience to help me make a more educated decision.

Thanks Geoff.

which service are you applying for?

make sure that they are actually going to do the chester step, as i know of a few brigades that have stopped doing it for some reason, otherwise yes i would advise them that you have had a little injury and see what they say
