Weekly Sprinkler waterflow/pressure bell test
« on: August 09, 2008, 07:42:27 PM »
Hi, are their any course's available out their, that would deem a person competent, to carry out the weekly sprinkler test ? I am an approved plumber by trade, but have been tasked by my bosses, to see if it is possible to use on site personnel, to carry out the weekly test, any guidance would be appreciated, regards Darren...

There are formal training courses run by some of the big organisations such as FPA and LPC.

I dont know about formal courses but I have trained the staff of several clients to do this to the satisfaction of their insurance companies. And thats what counts in the final analysis.

The beauty of this is that it is bespoke hands on  training on the clients site to cover their specific equipment, pumps, control gear, test facilities, fire alarm interfaces, interactions with other equipment such as roof vents, and can include audits of other sprinkler related topics such as monitoring the risk category and storage arrangements , maintenance of flues in high bay racking etc. Their system, their building, and controlling their hazards. You dont get that in a classroom in some swanky training centre. Give me a call anytime if you wish to discuss further.

Or ask the company that does the annual servicing.

We got them to come in for 4 consecutive weeks to do the weekly tests and at the same time train us.

Theres daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, six monthly, annual  3 and 10 yearly routines laid down in the BSEN for the different parts of the system, and vary from system to system- wet or dry valves, disel or electric pumps, pressure or storage tanks etc.
