The Medical For Fife Fire and Rescue service.

HI,

I wonder if anyone can help me I applied to join the fire service last year (Lothian and Borders) and made it to the final interview, Which unfortnatly I failed as I was very nervous and vastly uder prepared, However I have realised my mistake and havent stopped practising for this years recruitment campaign which started on the 1st August 2008 (this year Iam applying for Fife Fire and Rescue service as Iam moving to dunfermiline at the beginning of next year).

However I also want to prepare for the medical as I dont want to finally pass the interview and then fail the medical as specially as it the last stage beofre I realise my life dream of becoming a firefighter. So I was wondering if anyone on the forum could provide me with any information on what is invovled in the medical and the best way to train for it.

If anyone who has recently joined Fife Fire and Rescue service could help me in any way at all that would be great.

Thanks

Darren

Hi Darren

You can't train for the medical as such, as you can't really 'train' a medical condition that may bar you from service. It will help if you keep up a healthy lifestyle and watch your weight, avoid any loud exposure to excess noise and keep up your cv fitness for the step test.

I would concentrate on my spelling & grammar for the entrance tests if I were you.
