Causes and effects in a Gent network ???

We have recently replaced 5 (3400 series of Gent panels) by Vigilon ones in 5 buildings all networked in a ring style,(red line on the fig) below, the problem is; we found out that, all magnetic doors using swap cards MD1 to MD5 of all buildings are monitored from one I/O OFF panel 1 (P1) in building one (Green line in fig) below, hence if disabling the network link (comms 1 to 15) in any of the P2 to P5, P1 wouldn't receive any fire signal from other panels P2 to P5, in order to release all M.Ds.

We have found the causes and effects set like that previously, instead of making each panel monitoring its own MD, it's found to be a thin (BT wire) was run to link all M.Ds. to one single I/O unit OFF P1.

The question is that correct in terms of means of safety escape in case of cut in the network cable for a while?

The network is secure so it's wired in a ring. This means that 1 break in the network cable will not have any adverse effect on the doors. The only issue would arise if two network cables were cut and then depending on the location of the breaks, the doors would not operate from some or all but node 1.

The other risky case which had already happened with the old series 34000 and 32000, the network cards failed for unknown reasons, alarm condition didn't report to the main reception panel..., and we had been in a position to change 9 network cards to rescue the situation...

That's one of the reasons why we have replaced all panels on that site.

Unfortunately yes, new Gent Vigilon (EN54 part 2 & 4) panels, one of the building was totaly fitted with S-Quad devices..., it's a..... politics.....  which I don't know....

9 Network cards down, I bet the site is susceptible to lightening. I reckon only a lightening strike could do that to 9 network cards. Gent network cards are notorius for that.

P.S. I bet the site is either high up or is on a Hill...
