Day Duty Staff - Operational Commitment

Can anyone tell me if uniformed Day Duty Staff (such as fire safety inspecting officers) in their brigade also carry out some form of operational commitment.

If so what do they do and how does it fit in with their day job.

some have to maintain ops competency,as they can be recalled if crewing low,others have wholetime retained contracts.

As far as Im aware nationwide in every brigade firefighters who have gone into support roles such as fire safety still have to maintain competency incase they are required to provide cover or move back ops following a sidewards / upwards promotion. Would you believe that two months before I retired I had to go on a BA refresher!!!

When LFB changes its fire kit they aren't planning to issue any to uniformed inspecting officers.

Northern Ireland day staff have a operational experience policy which requires them to spend sets of duty on a watch at intervals throughout the year.
