McMillen Panels

Has any one out there any experience on McMillen Panels?  Does anyone have any manuals etc.......?

I have had a quick check through Internet but no thing come up regarding fire alarm systems with the name of McMillen. Is the spelling correct?

Sorry, Should be McMillan.  Only reference via Google is to ADT who I know bought them out; hence my search through this forum.....

Not the simplest systems in the world.....!
I did have some manuals for the big analogue system, also have the software somewhere. But would suggest (if its the analogue system your after) you don't touch it with a barge pole. We looked after one and it was a whole world of pain...!

McMillan panels were manufactured by James Stuart of Romford. As previously stated they were bought out by ADT many years ago. As previously stated they were a bit of a nightmare!

When we worked on the analogue system we found that if you took a download out the panel and tried to change it and upload it again, it completely screwed the system up!

Hand on heart, I wouldn't touch it !!

If you really want to get some more info about it then the engineer who wrote the software (and who performed the download/upload) mentioned above was Kevin Mears who now works at Kentec in Dartford. He may be able to help.

Or you might try Ian Clennagan (?) who used to be McMillan but is now (I think) working for ADT.

If you find that the heads regularly disappear off the system this was due to the fact they apparently used a laquer on the steel contacts that oxidises over time and forms an insulating barrier !.. Our job had nearly 1000 heads and we used to "lose" around 20 a month !!!

Paul i experienced macmillen panels years ago and can't remember how to work them, try puting jam on the pcb so it blows up. then replace with something better. =)

what Macmillan panel is it? Does it have a 19" rack where the loop cards sit? or what's the site?
