Thatch Fire
« on: July 05, 2009, 06:38:52 PM »
I'm researching the benefits of preventative measures that have been installed or applied in order to reduce fire damage to thatched properties.

In particular I am interested in fires that have occurred when thatch guard has been installed, when protective foam has been applied to the underside of the thatch and when Magna Firestop treatment has been applied to the thatch.

I would appreciate any real-fire information that either supports the use of any of the above measures, or conversely demonstrates significant weaknesses in their effectiveness.

This request is specific to properties that have had protective measures installed - and is not related to particular fire-fighting techniques.

Thank you for your assistance,
Paul
