EN54 pt 25

Can someone please clarify if this standard for radio detection equipment is actually enforcable now, or if there is still a cut off date when all manufactures' radio equipment must be 868MHz etc?

So...

1. Can equipment still be installed not complying to EN54-25

2. At what date must all equipment installed comply with EN54-25

Interesting topic !!

From what I gather the major manufacturers are saying they will have new equipment out in 12-18 months or so which complies with this.

In BS5839, it states - the system shall be compliant to EN54 pt 25, so as the BS says, it should comply.

I'm generally giving this guidance to people, and giving them all their options at this stage.  Also, installing a system now that in 12-18 months time will be superseeded by different equipment by the manufacturer I feel the client needs to make up his own mind.

I recently won a big job by simply highlighting the fact in these changes, and the client opted for the 868MHz system !

yep thats generally the line we take.... it would just be nice to have a definitive answer.... do you use the Vega kit then??

We use the Hyfire with the Notifier kit, being Notifier distributors, so we push this quite strongly now

I have been told it's March 2011 this is enforcable, so the current manufacturers have until then to fully comply.

what posistion will, or do you think someone who has a non EN54-25 system commisioning in the feb?

Until then I guess it still complies, although the customer needs to be aware of this prior to installation, and then it is their choice.  But the new standard isn't retrospective.  Although one of the major factors is the customer will then have a system installed that the detectors/control panel etc will potentially cost a fortune to maintain interms of future replacement as the detectors require replacement after a number of years as they will do
