New Licensing Procedure

I notice in the media recently that only a 100+ of the 3,600 licensed premises in the borough of Westminster (ie the west end of London) have applied for a new license under the new regs

With the deadline of August approaching, will  premises who have not applied be closed or is there some other procedure?

I dread to think of the effects on locals and tourists alike if 3000 boozers are shut down overnight.

This is a professional request for information you understand, and has nothing to do with me wanting to know whether I should pop down to Threshers to stock up.

My guess is that they will all apply just before the deadline.

Your figures are accurate and are replicated across the country. The government has not yet set a 2nd appointed day (initially thought to be Nov). When that date comes, all premises that haven't applied and been granted a transfer or variation under the new Licensing Act will be forced to close.
Pandemonium...wait for some action because the Government will not allow 75% of the pubs in the country to close.
The legislation is very difficult and despite vast amounts of guidance there are so many anomalies that Licensing Solicitors have already booked their world cruises for next year!
