The Inverness Courier previously revealed that the Telecare system installed in Barbara Anderson?s home in Leyton Drive, Hilton, failed to alert the call centre that fire had broken out on 6th August, meaning the fire service was not immediately summoned.

Instead, the alarm was raised by a member of the public and Ms Anderson, a spina bifida sufferer, was declared dead after being pulled from her flat by firefighters.

Correspondence obtained by The Inverness Courier under the Freedom of Information Act reveals a new Telecare central box was fitted in Ms Anderson?s flat shortly before the fatal fire, raising new doubts over whether it was properly programmed.
