I have been reading a text book on LPG fires, what does the term 'burn back against a vapour cloud' mean?

Is it possibly where the vapour cloud itself is (obviously) too fuel rich for buring, that the flammable vapours in the 'just right' zone are burning back to there. The heat expanding the vapour cloud all the while etc.

i would ask why the text book doesnt explain it! isnt that what the book is for? if it doesnt then it might make you think the book is about as much use an employers defence against pensions for retained firefighters!
