Im looking for any companies that specialise in gifts for firefighters / fire service in the uK

Must be UK based, have seen a lot of the american sites offering gifts - a bit too over the top for our liking!

A friend is retiring from the Brigade after 30 yrs and wants something fire related.

Tried "Phoenix World" repros, but their stock / gift ideas are not as substantial as they once were.

Not getting at you Toby, it was good of you to respond

But really dont see what stuff either splashed with the initials FSBNF would do to inform non fire service personnel what he did

Kids toys and the very vomit inducing figurenes depicting 'oh so very heroic oh lets praise firemen for being such wonderful heroes' rubbish doesnt really excite us either.

Tat and crap, anyone know of any better suppliers?

Something meaningful without being too posey or making on all firefighters love each other with a deep sense of brotherhood or stuff that makes us sound like the only admiration of the public

Please, yes we do a job, we may be proud of that job, but lets not go round thinking we're gods gift!

The Fire Service College shop have quite a good selection, I would post their website link, but the site does not open and shows as forbidden, helpfully!

I have always fancied the bronze of the 'Firefigher with BA set at rest' (the one where he's sitting leaning against a wall) then adding a plaque saying: "Job Done. Now wheres my kebab?"

Sort of sums me up to be honest.

The last time at was at the college most of the items that would be suitable were being sold off. I think it is turning into more of a newsagents. Although if you were there at the time you could bag some real bargins.

I can`t seem to open the link from the collage main menu either. Perhaps the web page doesn`t exist anymore.

ummm yeah on the right lines

What I have seen and I wish somebody would make over here is a tastefully done silver watch with the words fire and rescue tastefull imprinted on the face, with a nice movement. Only trouble is it has the yankee maltese cross type badge which none of us like. Look too cartoonie!

And will you please leave choppers out of this lol

a couple of years ago, one the really old guard firefighters from my old watch retired. Alec was anti fireman hero worshiping and hated any fire service pomp and circumstance stuff. We all chipped in and paid for an artist to do a character cartoon drawing of the watch, we took digital pictures of all of the lads and the artist did the rest, it was brilliant and Alec loved it. We spent the rest of our collection sending him away for a cracking weekend away to Scotland (where he loves to go walking) with lots of spending money.

Ben fund shops now dont sell much like that - more kids toys - generic stuff- hardly any personalised brigade stuff at all
