Competent status
« on: July 05, 2007, 09:08:39 AM »
Hi guys,

I have just completed the Point Of Entry wholetime fire fighter selection process for LA, with my basic course due to start in a few months time.  I've been a fire fighter for the past six years in a non-LA F&RS and gained nationally recognised competency in the form of my NVQ Level 3 EFS.Ops in the Comm.

Have any of you joined LA though POE having already gained competency and how long did it take before you were eligible for competent status?

Any advice or experience on this matter would be of great help as definate answers from the brigade personnel department seem a bit vague.

Cheers.

If you thought you were ever going to get a difinitive answer from a personnel section I think you have a long and frustrating career ahead. Best of luck with the Trainee course though, which brigade?

Please PM me, also which FRS is it? The Ff ops in the community is THE NOS for the FRS, LA or not.
