Please see message below from Watch Manager Dave Smith, Hereford and Worcester Fire & Rescue Service (UK);

To the Fire Services family,

I have served in the UK Fire Service for 29 years and, to this day, I still feel a great pride in being part of the best Fire Services in the world. For almost all this time I have been involved with the Fire Services National Benevolent Fund to help those Fire Services people in need. The Ben Fund is something we should all be proud of and, in my role as Brigade Secretary for Hereford and Worcester FRS, I see the amazing ways the charity helps our colleagues.

I know I am not alone thinking this and three of our colleagues within the FRS are taking part in an incredible challenge, which I hope you may support. Firefighters Bainbridge, Fox and Mayhew are going for the World Record in the Arch to Arc challenge. This will see them run from Marble Arch, London to Dover, swim to Calais and finally cycle to the Arc de Triomphe, Paris. This will be the first time a three man team has ever attempted such a challenge.

They are taking part in this to raise money for the FSNBF and this is where your support can be so important. You can either visit their fundraising website at www.justgiving.co.uk/trailblazer to leave a secure donation or simply text the word “BLAZE” to 84424. All texts cost £1.50 and the Ben Fund receives £1 of this. Text may not work from outside the UK.

Your support makes all the difference to our charity and I would be so grateful if you would forward this to your fellow Fire Services email addresses to ensure that the whole Fire Service has the chance to support these three firefighters doing something amazing for the Ben Fund. You may also consider sending this to friends and family to show them what an important charity this is.

Thank you in advance for your generosity,

Dave Smith
