Transferring Brigades

I have over 21yrs experience in operational, training and fire safety
Member of IFE,  Loads of other quals
am a watch manager A in West Midlands and desperatly want to get into Devon and Somerset or Avon
I've never transfered brigades before how do i go about it
or does anyone have any experience to share

You can't actually transfer into another Brigade unless there is a vacancy for you to apply for. You have to apply for any jobs that are going just like anyone else.

Paxo,
          i myself have transfered within 3 different fire services within my 16yrs service, just contact the relevant personnel department of the fire service you wish to transfer to. If no current vacancy exists you can place your name on a waiting list for when a vacancy arises, keep your eye on the chief fire officers association website, click on recruitment then current vacancies for a uptodate list. Transfering between brigades is a easy process with normally just a week conversion course for competent personnel.

And some Brigades would be quite happy to get rid of you as it's another pension under the old scheme they don,t have to worry about.

Not all services accept straight transfers, some make you go through the same selection process that new recuits have to under go, Cornwall used to do just that, you were viewed no different to the person off the street
