I have been trying to find a small (in size) domestic smoke alarm for my house, I have had a loft conversion and therefore have mains powered battery back up interlinked detection to the escape routes, however working from I would feel better having additional smoke alarms in the rooms, so if any of you guys could point me in the right direction
p.s. have done a google search to no avail

I know Dicon used to do a small round one that looked quite neat, I had one in each bedroom (they were ionisation which I changed for optical which were larger but react better to smouldering fires) http://www.sdfirealarms.co.uk/shop/diconfirstalertsmokealarms-c-33_143_146_166.html
it's the M300 series I think (cheap as well)

I'm not sure which detector company had the recent large fire at their premises, (was it Dicon?) so there may be a shortage at the moment?

There was a wide range and plenty of each model on the shelves of a local B&Q warehouse I went into this morning. But I don't know if any of them are the small size you were looking for.

Be wary of alarms such as ceiling rose type or any alarm that merely "conforms to the BS"; only use those are certified ie Kitemarked to the BS.

Take into account too that you wouldn't normally want an alarm on top of a heat source
(eg bulb) because of reaction of smoke travel.
